This was a few years ago, but if you missed it, an exciting discovery was made in the ruins of Lachish in ancient Israel. While there is some debate among archaeologists, it is very likely an altar or “high place”, inside a room of the city’s gate, that King Hezekiah had turned into a toilet. Remnants of a small temple from the days of the Kingdom of Judah have been discovered at Tel Lachish, including the first physical evidence of a toilet – which had been purposely installed on a site of pagan worship, to defile it, even if the toilet never was used.
