On Bradford’s Trail: Plymouth, England

Plymouth, England was the final departure point of the Pilgrims on their voyage to the New World. It was also a very important city in the history of New World exploration.

An aerial view of Plymouth, with the harbor on the right, and the Royal Citadel on the left – an active military base that was first built by Sir Francis Drake
The view of the harbor looking out to see. You can see a modern destroyer on the left, coming into harbor

The steps from which, according to tradition, the Mayflower departed
A house dating from the time of the Pilgrim’s visit
All that is left of the old medieval Plymouth castle
And a mystery location…. Any guesses as to where it might be? It’s not commonly associated with the Pilgrims, but I am researching the possibility that they visited
