Olumo Rock, Abeokuta, Nigeria

Olumo Rock

We recently returned from a trip to Nigeria. While there we visited Olumo Rock inĀ Abeokuta. In the 1830s the rock was used as a hiding place by the Egba people, and the caves in which they hid can still be seen today. Today the rock is worshiped as a god, and animal sacrifices are made to it.
